Many scholarships are available to incoming freshmen and current students at UMD. Some scholarships require that a student have financial need or meet certain criteria; others are based upon demonstrated talents or abilities. Most of the scholarships for incoming freshmen can be applied for with the general UMD Scholarship Application, available from the UMD Office of Admissions.

Listings of scholarships for both freshmen and current UMD students can be found on the UMD Financial Aid office's Scholarship web page, at the bottom of the page.

Additionally, each department within the School of Fine Arts has many talent scholarships for returning students - stop in at each department's home office for applications.

School of Fine Arts Scholarships

The following scholarships and awards are available to students in SFA. Contact the appropriate department for additional information.

Isaac and Rose Gershgol Scholarships

Awarded to two art and design, two music and two theatre undergraduate students who have financial need and who are outstanding students and performers. Selection based on department recommendations. Contact your department of study or the SFA Office of the Dean, 120 Montague Hall, for information.

Olive Anna Tezla School of Fine Arts Scholarship

Awarded annually to one art and design, music, or theatre student for excellent scholarship/creative activity or outstanding contributions to an area of art and design, music, or theatre or demonstrated leadership in the school. Contact your department of study or the SFA Office of the Dean, 120 Montague Hall, for information.
