The Office for Students in Transition

Workshops for Parents and Families are specified programs that we offer on Thursday that pertain to the questions and concerns of parent and families. The Parent and Family Welcome & Program at 4:00 will be a general meeting led by Vince Repesh, during this time he will be able to address your questions and concerns. These are optional for parents.

Rock Groups consist of approximately 15-18 new first year students lead by a current student leader. All new students will attend their Rock Group meeting on Friday at 11:00. Although you may want to stay with your student during this time, please know that these are for the new students only. This will be important time for the new students to begin making connections with their new classmates.

Thursday, August 30th

UMD Stores open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Library open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
On-Campus Move-In to UMD Housing and Bulldog Welcome Week Check-In: Located by Residence Hall/ Apartment Check-In stations.
2:30 p.m.
Need Help Processing Your Loans? Nuts and Bolts Walk-In Assistance. Optional session for parents (Garden Room)
4:00 p.m.
Parent and Family Welcome Program: Includes information about Bulldog Welcome Week, transition to college, and some student policies, including alcohol. Optional for Parents (Ballroom)

Friday, August 31st

UMD Stores open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (There will be a parent event in the store from 10am to 1pm).
Library open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Please plan to say goodbye to students prior to their 11:00 am Rock Group Meetings to ensure you have time for a proper goodbye. New students will be busy for the remainder of the day.

Disability Resources

The Office of Disability Services is offering a workshop for parents and families of students with disabilities called "Disablity Resources: Meet, Greet & Ask ". Learn what resources are available for students with disabilities at UMD and how you as a parent can be part of the team that promotes a successful experience for students with a disability. The Office of Disability Services promotes both academic and physical access to students with disabilities, providing appropriate and reasonable accommodations on an individual and flexible basis.

Parent and Family Welcome and Program

On Thursday, parents are welcome to come and hear from Vince Repesh, Parent Program Coordinator. He will share advice and tips with parents on parenting a UMD student and answering any and all of your questions.
