1) We are now accepting applications for the UMD Archaeology Field School which will take place in Northeastern Minnesota. We will likely be offering a per dieum $ allowance for students; this is dependent on grant applications being funded.
ANNOUNCEMENT

4696, will again be offered for summer session 2008, conducted by UMD
instructor Susan Mulholland. The full 6-week experience (for 6 semester

archaeology as well as those just interested in seeing what archaeology field
work is like. Partial credit for shorter time commitments is also possible by
arrangement.
The schedule is tentatively June 23 through August 1.
Classroom activities (week 1) will include an orientation to archaeology,
Federal laws, and identification of archaeological materials; lab analysis
(week 6) will focus on artifact identification and interpretation. Field work
(weeks 2-5) will provide 4 weeks of survey and evaluation on in Northeastern Minnesota.
The course will require 40 hours per week, with the schedule varying
from 4 to 5 days in a week. Students are responsible for their own living
arrangements while in Duluth and contributions to living expenses in the
field. More details are in the application package.
