The Department of Sociology-Anthropology at the University of Minnesota Duluth has a full-time tenure-track position in Cultural Anthropology available beginning 28 August 2006.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Anthropology or equivalent by the time of appointment, and must have successful college teaching experience and demonstrate an active research and publication agenda.
Preferred qualifications:
Specialties in gender, environment, religion, development, globalization, or transnational/border issues. Other specialties will be considered.
Ethnographic experience in Latin America, Africa, East Asia or with US cultural groups from these regions or with North American based American Indian, Native American/First Nations/Hawaiian/Alaskan Native peoples.
Demonstrated, successful college teaching experience in teaching courses in the primary specialty area.
Ability to teach Introduction to Cultural Anthropology, Development of Anthropological Theory, a regional ethnographic course, and an ethnographic methods course.
Applied research experience in the primary specialty area, with an active research and publication agenda,
and ability to work with regional community groups and organizations.
Experience in student advising and service to the campus and discipline.
Evidence of civic engagement.
