Course Overview
In order to prepare students for college algebra (Math 1005), this course includes basic computational math skills and applications, as well as introductory algebra and geometry.

Former Student's Description:
"Got Me Back Into Math"

Basic Math & Algebra was just what I needed to help me get back into studying math. I hadn't taken math since the first semester of my junior year in high school.

The most beneficial thing I learned was how to factor polynomials again. I struggled with this at first, but because of the environment of Basic Math & Algebra, I didn't feel out of place as I continually asked questions.

In college algebra, I am required to factor multiple times a day... and can now do it quickly. Being reintroduced to dividing fractions has also been helpful to my success in algebra this semester.

Believe it or not, I think this class should remain on a pass/fail basis. I say this because not having to worry about my grade helped me focus on the math instead of worrying about being right or wrong.

The easy-going and laid-back class environment made it easy to ask questions... I never once felt unintelligent in class. I feel that because I returned to the basics, I will be able to successfully complete Calculus 2.
