The women's soccer team made their debut last week, and although the Bulldogs still have a losing record (2-3-0), they do have an even conference record at 1-1-0.
UMD opened their NCC schedule against Nebraska-Omaha on Saturday with a disappointing 1-0 loss.
The Bulldogs only attempted two shots on goal, both in the first period within two minutes of each other.
The defense was working hard to keep the game at hand, but after a goal by Nebraska-Omaha in the first period, the game began to steadily decrease as the Mavericks continued to dominate the play.
The following day, the girls finished the weekend against the University of North Dakota, thanks to another strong outing in goal by senior Katie Lukanich. Senior Heather Cutter had two goals in the first period, giving the assist to sophomore Clare Dahmen and sophomore Sammy Case.
Sophomore Alex Paffrath had one goal in the second period, sophomore Brittany Lyons and senior Laura Mayerle with the assist.
UND only attempted three shots on goal, while UMD had 15 shots.
Lukanich blocked two shots and picked up the win for UMD, 2-0.
UMD travels next to Vermillion, South Dakota to play the University of South Dakota, on Sep. 21.
