If you were wandering the halls yesterday, you may have seen newspapers askew and limbs hiding below them. The Students for Peace, Veterans for Peace and the Northland Anti-War Coalition were demonstrating across from the Kirby Bookstore about the Iraq War. “We just want people to know the facts,” said Coly Wentzlaff, co-founder of Students for Peace.
Next Wednesday marks the fifth anniversary of President George W. Bush announcing the invasion of Iraq and the beginning of the Iraq War. Since it’s during spring break, the organizations said they wanted to do something about the war sooner rather than later.
“You can’t always trust what you read in the news,” said Wentzlaff. “Sometimes you have to look deeper.” Although a few people did shout obscenities at the demonstrators, overall it remained peaceful.
