Administration: Time to Re-evaluate smoke-free policy

BY MICHALE BAYNTON
College of Science and Engineering
It’s nice to see that at least some of the people my tuition is going to have noticed the disconnect between the policy and the reality of our “smoke-free campus.”
Thank you, Mr. Alexander, for your letter here last week. Now, I would like to see someone in upper administration notice, too.
I’m a nonsmoker, but seriously, give up and put the ashtrays back.
Since there’s been no effort to enforce this policy, nobody’s scared by the little signs anymore, and the mess outside many campus entryways is disgusting and getting worse by the day.
Or, if you’re not ready to reverse the smoking ban, pay a visit to the campus police and take action to enforce it.

Letter of appreciation

I really enjoyed reading your article called “Free papers no longer,” [published in the April 10 edition by Elisabeth Enke].
Hopefully we will see newspapers back on campus soon.
