If the UMD women’s hockey team is able to beat Mercyhurst College in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Division I women’s hockey tournament, they will be playing home games at the 2008 Women’s Frozen Four.
The two-day tournament will be held at the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center (DECC) on March 20 and 22 this year.
The Bulldogs are one of three Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) teams participating in the eight-team tournament. The No.4-seed Minnesota Golden Gophers will face the Wisconsin Badgers in a quarterfinal game in the Twin Cities on March 15.
There are also three teams from the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC), No.1-seed Harvard, Dartmouth and St. Lawrence. No.3-seed New Hampshire and Mercyhurst round out the eight-team bracket, according to the NCAA Web site.
