Academic Link - November 2018
The weather is cooling down in Duluth, but the academic planning season is heating up!
First, students should be aware that the last day to withdraw from a fall 2018 course is Wednesday, November 7th. Dropping a course will result in a grade of W which does not impact grade point average. Before withdrawing, students should discuss the situation with their professor and academic advisor.
Students start enrolling in spring 2019 classes starting November 5th and can find information on their individual registration time here: https://onestop.d.umn.edu/academics/registration-times.
Many students are required to meet with their academic advisor before they register. It’s important to schedule a meeting prior to their registration date so they can be ready to register at their assigned time. Students can find their advisor by logging into MyU and clicking the Academics tab.
Students should be prepared and bring a list of class options to their advising appointment. Some resources they can use include:
UMD Catalog (view degree, major and course requirements)
APAS (degree audit)
Graduation Planner (plan future semesters)
There are various holds that may impact registration (one of which is an advising hold which will not be released until the student meets with an advisor).
How to view and resolve holds: https://onestop.d.umn.edu/how-guides/view-holds-your-record.
Students are welcome to contact their collegiate advising offices for assistance.
