A letter from UMD's Alumni Relations Director
Dear Parents and Families,
Spring has arrived, and with the new season comes one of my favorite occasions on the academic calendar: Commencement. UMD Commencement Day on May 6th features two graduation ceremonies: one for the Labovitz School and Swenson College at 10am, as well as an afternoon ceremony for the College of Liberal Arts, School of Fine Arts, and College of Education and Human Service Professions at 3pm. We host two ceremonies and require no tickets to attend because we want as many people as possible to share the excitement of this day with our graduates.
Wondering where your loved one will be seated during their ceremony? We will post signs inside the entrance to Amsoil Arena listing the degrees being honored that day, the colleges that will award those degrees, and where to find the degree cohorts on the arena floor. I encourage you to ask a Commencement volunteer for guidance in tracking down your graduate because we are here to help. For those unable to attend, please check the Commencement website on May 6th for a live stream of the ceremonies. The program will also be available online.
I am grateful your student chose to pursue their college journey with us at UMD. As Alumni Director, I am equally excited about what comes next. Enjoy your time together in the weeks ahead. Go Bulldogs!
