A Letter from UMD's Chancellor

September 1, 2017

Hello from UMD!

Hello from UMD!

The Bulldog Update was created five years ago after parents told us they wanted a closer connection to their student’s university.

If you’re a returning subscriber to the Bulldog Update: Parents and Family edition, welcome back! If you are a new subscriber, we hope this online newsletter is a helpful resource while your student is attending UMD.

The start of the fall semester is always an energizing time for me as Chancellor.
I enjoy welcoming faculty and staff back to campus, and it’s especially fun to participate in residence hall move-in and new student orientation. You can learn more about me and some of my UMD priorities here

Fall is also a great time to reflect on what a special place UMD is and to celebrate the achievements we’ve had over the last year. For example, once again our annual Graduate Follow-up Survey has revealed some exciting results – 97% of the 2016 graduating seniors who participated in the survey are either employed or continuing on with their education.

I know that our students, faculty, and staff will have some amazing successes throughout the 2017–18 academic year. You can keep up on those successes, by visiting the UMD in the News website.

The UMD Events calendar is a great way to keep up to date on all UMD events.
I especially hope you can attend Family Weekend - September 29–October 1.

Please stay connected with us! Best wishes and go Bulldogs!
