Ask Champ
champ the bulldog

Dear Champ,

My daughter lives on campus and is worried about walking from her car to her on-campus apartment alone, when she returns to campus late after dark. Is there a program to help her safely get to her residence?

Dear Parent,
Yes!  UMD does have a program in place called Safe Walk.  The program runs from 8:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. (midnight) 7 nights a week while school is in session.  Your daughter may call: 218-726-6100 and someone will be able to walk with her from her car to her on-campus place of residence. After hours, UMD's Police Department, UMDPD, can also assist in walking her to her residence. UMDPD can be reached by calling 911.

Signed, Champ
