You are here

We're called Student Life for a reason...

UMD students playing in the snow.

The departments, programs, and services within the Division of Student Life are here to support students. Students are at the heart of all we do!

Do you want to get involved?

At UMD we encourage students to “be the bold and friendly YOU”. There are more than 250 student organizations, the Kirby Leadership Institute,  a vibrant on campus living community, an active Greek Life system, faith-based groups, more than 50 different intramural and recreational activities, and countless opportunities for students to have fun and find their place – and their people – at UMD.

Do you or a fellow student need help?

There are many resources for you as a UMD student - we encourage students to reach out to a counselor in Health Services, and students who live on campus can talk with their RA or a member of the Housing and Residence Life staff. If you just don't know where to start, visit or call the Office of Student Life (contact information at left). The Office also houses the UMD food shelf program, Champ's Cupboard, as well as Champ's Closet, a program to provide professional and business attire to students.

Do you want to keep up with what's happening at UMD?

There are a number of great ways to find out what's happening at your University. The Bulldog Update is a weekly email that will come to your UMD email account. It's a digest of activities, opportunities, reminders, and news items. The UMD Student Portal (MyU) also provides news and events just for students - you'll find the login at the top right of the UMD home page. The UMD News pages have many interesting articles and feature stories. Finally, the UMD Events Calendar is a great way to stay current on all things happening at UMD!

Do you have a suggestion, a question or a concern?

Contact the Student Life Office! We are located in 245 Kirby Plaza, our email address is vcsl@d.umn.edu, and our phone number is (218) 760-8501. You can also contact any of our departments for specific areas within the division (see the link at left).

Are you interested in finding a University policy?

There are a number of University of Minnesota and UMD websites with policy information.
