Neckties from Champ's Cupboard

Champ’s Closet serves the needs of students who need professional business attire for internship and job interviews.

Located in 245 Kirby Plaza, students can pick from a variety of items including suits, shirts, jackets, skirts, ties, and shoes. The items in Champ's Close were generously donated by maurices, Main Stream Fashions for Men, faculty and staff.

To access Champ's Cupboard, students simply need to come to the front desk in the Student Life Office (Kirby Plaza 245) and show their ID card so that student status is verified. Students are then provided access to the Closet, and they may take one outfit per semester. All that is asked at the end of the student's visit is for fill them to fill out a brief form and bring their items to the Student Life front desk so that staff can record the sizes that were taken. In that way, staff know what sizes need to be replenished. No questions are asked about why the student needs the clothing, their income, etc.

Champ's Closet was established in 2016, and the support for the program from the UMD and Duluth communities has been inspiring! Here's a link to a news story that shares information about how the Champ's Closet was started.
