EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW
Please take a moment to review and, where necessary, update your current or permanent address, emergency contact information, or TXT-U notification numbers. By keeping your contact information current, you will ensure that University communications reach you in the most timely way possible.
Be Legal
We expect UMD students to comply with all federal and state laws. In particular, copyright
law and the Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA) prohibits downloading and distributing copyright-protected music and video files. Many students do this, either intentionally or
inadvertently, by using peer-to-peer file-sharing programs, such as BitTorrent, Ares, Limewire, etc. UMD will comply with the DMCA by forwarding complaints about illegal file sharing to complainants. If subpoenaed by the industry for further information, we may be forced to provide information about your identity, which may result in legal action against you. Please stay legal by avoiding these activities.
