REMINDER: Student Services Fee Committee
Interested in serving on the Student Services Fee Committee? This committee is charged with making funding recommendations and overseeing the allocation of funds to registered student organizations and university departments for student activities, programs, and services. Please visit the Student Services Fee website for more information! You can download an application online, or pick one up in 245 Kirby Plaza.
Be Safe Online
Most UMD students bring their own computers to campus, and many student computers are targets for malware (viruses, worms, spyware, etc.) and phishing attempts each year. Here are some helpful approaches to protecting your computer and yourself.
- Install and use free anti-virus software provided by the University.
- Be aware that spyware can infect your machine and collect information about you. Take steps to protect yourself. And if you do suspect that your computer has been infected, visit our TechCenter for help.
- Be alert to email phishing attempts, which try to fool you into providing private information such as your Internet password, banking information, or other information that might lead to identity theft.

Flu Clinic
Wednesday, October 26, 10am-3pm, Kirby Student Lounge. Flu shots will be offered to UMD students free of charge with presentation of a student ID. The flu clinics are coordinated by Health Services, The College of Pharmacy and QuickCare.

New LinkedIn and Facebook Integration with GoldPASS
Starting October 28th, when you log into GoldPASS you will be presented with the option to connect with LinkedIn and the “Who Do You Know” Facebook application. If you decide to register with these programs you will see your network connections straight from employer and job records! As you open employer and job records, you will see who in your social networks is
connected to the company you are viewing. The new Facebook and LinkedIn integrations will be interactive for you, allowing you to easily connect to your Facebook and LinkedIn accounts – making professional networking an absolute breeze!

UMD LaBounty Entrepreneur Competition
Have a great business idea that you would like to explore in further detail? Want professional feedback on your idea? You could have the chance to win $100 if your business idea is in the top five, as well as gain valuable entrepreneurship experience. Submit a one page business idea, that summarizes your product or service, why people will love it, and how it will make money, along with a simple registration form to LSBE Student Affairs (111A). Entries are due by Wednesday, October 26th, at 3:30 pm. After being reviewed by faculty, entrepreneurs and investors winners will be announced at the Entrepreneurship Club meeting on Wednesday, November 9th, at noon in LSBE 165.
