This year with the help of Chancellor Black and his Cabinet, faculty, and staff at UMD, the Student Life Office was able to open Champ's Cupboard fall semester of 2013. Champ's Cupboard works as a food shelf option for students, available to those students who may be struggling financially. Champ's Cupboard is located in 245 Kirby Plaza and is available to students year round, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Students who choose to use Champ's Cupboard can access it at the front desk of the Student Life office. Students can pick as many items as they need. Champ's Cupboard consists almost entirely of nonperishable food items, although there are a few linens and other miscellaneous items as well.
Champ's cupboard was a success last semester here at UMD! Thanks to everyone who helped spread the word and donated. Last semester Champ's Cupboard was used 66 times, which is great for its first semester! The Student Life Office hopes that Champ's Cupboard will continue to be able to help those students in need, so please continue spreading the word! Thanks!
If you would like to donate or have any questions, please contact Laura Haffield, 726-8502, firstname.lastname@example.org, or visit the Student Life Office, located in 245 Kirby Plaza.
