Study Abroad Information Session | School of Fine Arts

This session will provide information on UMD study abroad programs specific to students studying in the UMD School of Fine Arts.

This session will give a broad overview of UMD programs that offer courses in the area of Fine Arts and will also provide attendees with information and resources regarding course offerings and course transfer for study abroad. You will meet study abroad program advisors and current UMD students who have studied abroad. Bring your questions and we look forward to seeing you there!

2014 Summit on Equity, Diversity, & Multiculturalism

2014 Summit on Equity, Diversity and Multiculturalism.

The event includes 60- and 90-minute workshops on equity, diversity and social justice topics. The summit will culminate at 4:00pm with a keynote presentation by author, educator and activist Dr. Angela Davis. Her career has spanned 50 years and emphasizes the importance of building communities of struggle for economic, racial, and gender justice. Dr. Davis lectures on incarceration and the generalized criminalization of those communities that are most affected by poverty and racial discrimination.

Happiness 101 workshops

Happiness 101 workshops.  Solon Campus Center 21. 5-6pm, on the dates below:

  • The neuroscience of happiness: Thursday, February 27th, and repeated on Tuesday, April 1st.
  • Using your mind, to change your brain towards happiness. Thursday March 6th, and    repeated on Tuesday, April 8th.

The Happiness 101 workshops are presented by Michelle Stronach, MSW, LISW, Counselor at UMD Health Services.  Students can attend one or both workshops.  The same material will be covered in the repeated workshops in April.  Free and open to all students!! NEW BULLDOG TAXI PROGRAM

Bulldog Taxi has made some major changes to its program, begining February 7th these changes will go into effect.

  • For the remainder of the year you do not need a Bulldog Taxi Card, instead you need your student ID.
  • The program will no longer be serviced by Bayside Taxi; instead students can call Custom Cabs and Yellor Door Taxi for service.
  • The deal now riders will pay 50% of the fare, so the more people in a taxi the less each person will have to pay! Just make sure to keep giving the drivers a Tip!

STLF Service Spring Break Trip - D.C.

We have openings on an amazing Students Today Leaders Forever (STLF) service Spring Break Trip and we would love to extend the invitation to you all to join us as we travel to Washington DC! Not only do you get to impact lives across the country through volunteering, but your own as well as you get a chance to make 40 new best friends by the end of the trip!

We have two buses going out this year; a Classic and a Mystery tour. These buses will each stop in 5 cities along the way to D.C. performing service projects and doing awesome tourism. The Classic bus will be hitting spots like Niagara Falls, and Philadelphia! The Mystery tour is well, a mystery where you will stop between here and D.C.!

The cost of this trip, which includes 2 meals a day, 2 awesome t-shirts, a place to sleep every night including 2 nights in a nice hotel in D.C. as well as tourism in all the cities along the way is $450. .
