Study Abroad 101

Join the International Education Office for Study Abroad 101.

Come learn the basics of studying abroad at UMD! No need to register, just show up. These informational sessions are led by a staff member in the UMD International Education Office. Often times these sessions have a small number of students who attend, so the session can be altered to fit your specific needs/questions.

This session will cover topics like:

  • How to choose a program
  • The difference between UMD and Non-UMD programs
  • Cost
  • Courses and how they transfer back to your degree at UMD
  • Scholarships
  • Financial aid
  • Application process

Glensheen's Chester Chats - Women in Leadership

Set in one of the most beautiful homes in the Northland, this Glensheen series is a lively Ted Talk-styled event meant to be fast-paced and foster critical thinking.
The next Chester Chat, will explore the topic of Women in Leadership

Doors open to historic Glensheen’s Winter Garden at 7:00 p.m. for a happy half-hour with the guest speakers. Cookies and coffee are available for purchase, while the forum is free and open to the public. Speakers start promptly at 7:30 p.m., each talking for approximately 10 minutes.
KUMD will be rebroadcasting the talk as a regular monthly feature.
Glensheen is a unit of the School of Fine Arts within the University of Minnesota Duluth.

International Justice Mission is hosting Stand for Freedom 2014 on the UMD campus.

From April 9-10, we will be standing on campus for 24 hours to raise awareness for modern day slavery. Starting at 8 AM on Wednesday, we will stand outside the lower bookstore. Pancakes will be made fresh and food donations from local cafes will also be provided! We will be standing through the night, so the party continues until the next morning!

Resume Drop-in Hours

Get immediate feedback on your resume, no appointment necessary!

These 10-15 minute sessions are for students who already have a written resume and have reviewed the resume guidelines in the Career Handbook. You MUST bring a paper copy of your resume to the session, and then receive feedback from Career and Internship Services staff. If you are a beginning resume writer, develop your resume prior to attending one of these sessions by using the Resume Writing section of the Career Handbook.

This fair is open to students and alumni from participating Minnesota colleges and universities with a major leading to education licensure. You must pre-register with your college career office. Teachers must be certified by December 2014. Education Services Candidates are encouraged to attend!

Northland Community Wellness Day

This Saturday!!! Northland Community Wellness Day 2014.

NCWD is a community wellness event presented by The City of Duluth, St. Louis County, and UMD Health Services, designed to connect our campus and community to wellness education and local resources. The event highlights 65+ exhibitors, Zoomobile (10am-12pm), and rock-climbing. This is a great event for students to get information about wellness opportunities in our community, as well as to network with local organizations. A highlight of the event will be 7 informational workshops. Fun, inspiring and informative!
