Benefits of CITS

The UMD CITS program benefits both high school students and schools. Students who participate in the program can jump start their college career by earning their first credits while still in high school. Additionally, these students are able to transition to college life more easily since they have first-hand experience of what is expected academically.

Through participation in the CITS program, high schools and teachers can strengthen their school and curriculum while simultaneously challenging their students to achieve even more. UMD's CITS program is accredited by the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP).

UMD demonstrated to the NACEP accreditation committee how the UMD CITS program, partners, faculty and students meet the required NACEP standards governing curriculum, assessment, evaluation, and student, teacher and faculty credentials. Securing NACEP accreditation, UMD strengthens the transferability of UMD CITS credit nationwide.
