UMD Course Registration While Abroad

OneStop Student Services will notify you of your registration time via email. In most cases, you'll register for classes for the following term while you're still abroad. Towards the end of the term abroad, (Nov.–Dec. for fall, Apr.–May for spring), keep your eye out for emails from OneStop Student Services. You won't want to miss your registration time. Some students have had issues with their assigned registration times during their first term back at UMD. Because academic calendars differ among hemispheres, there are instances when grades cannot be posted in a timely manner. Registration times are primarily determined based on credits completed, and if your grades have not been posted, your registration time will not reflect your credits. It is possible to appeal your registration time if you feel this is the case. For questions, contact One Stop Student Services.

Have a hold on a student account?

If you have a hold on your student account, you will not be able to receive grades nor register for the following semester. Even when you are abroad, you are responsible for clearing holds on your account. Since the UMD Study Abroad office cannot remove holds, be sure to:
  • Inform your academic advisor when you will be abroad
  • Schedule required advisor meetings appropriately
  • Meet with a financial aid advisor to ensure that all financial matters are taken care of before you leave
