Bio

Rachel is a junior at UMD studying English and Communication. She spent her sophomore year studying at the University of Worcester in England. While there she explored all over the United Kingdom and parts of Europe, as well as made friends with people from around the world. Studying abroad gave her the opportunity to not only learn invaluable things about the rest of world, but also about herself and she considers it to be the best decision she has ever made. She feels that everyone should take advantage of the opportunity to live abroad while in college and became a peer advisor to help others accomplish this. When she's not working or studying, Rachel enjoys reading, baking, and spending time with family and friends.
Most memorable view during your study abroad experience?
Lake Windermere in England's Lake District is by far the most beautiful place I have ever been to. Seeing sailboats on the lake with snow-capped mountains in the background was unforgettable.
What makes you happy?
Harry Potter, afternoons spent baking, curling up with a good book, and rainy days.
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
School and responsibilities- otherwise I'm not a morning person!
Best advice to future study abroad student?
Take advantage of the opportunity to study abroad! Even if you're unsure, just go for it. You'll learn so much and experience amazing things. While you're there, immerse yourself in the culture and do as much as you possibly can. Push yourself out of your comfort zone- you won't regret it!
What's the next item on your bucket list?
I love England, so my goal is to move back while pursuing my master's degree in English
