Student Identity

UMD Study Abroad does everything it can to recognize and accommodate the needs of all students, faculty, and staff interested in studying abroad. Making the decision to study abroad is a big one. We feel it's crucial to provide information and resources for underrepresented student populations to consider in regards to studying abroad.

Information for:

Advisors as Your Resource

For all students wishing to study abroad—schedule an appointment with your academic advisor to determine how to best apply your coursework abroad towards graduation requirements and post-graduation goals. We also recommend you discuss questions or concerns about student identity with someone on campus with whom you are comfortable, such as your academic advisor or a staff member on campus (Study Abroad, GLBT Services, Office of Diversity & Inclusion, or Office of Disability Services). It is imperative that you address these questions before embarking on an experience as major as studying abroad.
