Is the Quality Metrics Allocation/Chancellor's Graduate Fellowship different from the Child Welfare Scholarship?
Yes, the Quality Metrics Allocation/Chancellor's Graduate Fellowship (QMACGF) is different. QMACGFs are competitively awarded to 6-7 students each year by the Admissions Committee on the basis of academic achievement. GPA of 3.5 or higher is required to qualify. The QMACGF requires students to take a minimum of 6 credits each semester the grant is awarded and must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or better. The QMACGF requires no payback as long as the above criteria are met.
Admitted students must apply to the Child Welfare Scholars (CWS) program and if accepted must take the CWS courses, Child Welfare and the Law, Advanced Practice in Child Welfare and Dynamics of American Indian Families. CW Scholars must also complete at least one field placement in a qualifying public or tribal child welfare setting.
The CWS program is a fellowship that has a payback in that "after graduation, scholars must seek and accept employment in a public child welfare setting for a period of time equivalent to the months they received a stipend." See the Child Welfare Scholars program website.
When will I hear if I have been accepted into the MSW program?
The Admissions Committee meets for 6-8 weeks to review applications after the application deadline. Applicants will receive an e-mail from the Graduate School indicating their decision letter is posted on their online application.
