UMD MSW Distance Education Program Sites

Our program has sites in Bemidji and Hibbing, Minnesota. All of our weekend courses take place on the campus of Bemidji State University. Our Interactive Television (ITV) courses are delivered to sites in Bemidji (BSU) and also Hibbing. Our Hibbing site is on the campus of Hibbing Community College.

At each of the sites, we have a UMD Social Work Department Distance Education Site Coordinator, who is available to support students and faculty in delivering our program.Geri Wilimek, MSW,LICSW, is our coordinator for our Bemidji site. She also serves as the Associate Field Coordinator, working with distance students to arrange for their field placements in their home communities. Diane Maki is our Hibbing site coordinator. Diane completed her Bachelors Degree in Applied Psychology via distance education herself!

Additionally, we have an MSW Distance Education Coordinator, Kathy Heltzer, on our Duluth campus. Kathy is a faculty member in the Department and also serves as the Field Coordinator. She is also the "webmaster" for our distance education and field web sites.

Students have access to services at BSU, including library, bookstore, and laptop computers. The UMD Social Work Department has a number of laptop computers available for check-out. Contact Geri Wilimek if you would like to reserve one.
