How do I get a UMD e-mail address and password?
You will be assigned an e-mail address ("username") and will be able to choose your own password at the time you register through the web. When you go to the Office of the Registrar Home Page you will need to click on"Use the web to register and access your student records" Then proceed to "Account Initiation" under the "Services You May Need" section. You will be asked to provide your social security #, student ID #, and birth date.

How do I use the UMD Library on-line?
The best way to figure out how to do this is to go to the UMD Library Home Page.
Go to FAQ and find the "distance learner" link after the "How do I access the library" section. There should be an explanation there. If you are still confused, feel free to e-mail the library staff, who I have always found to be quite helpful.

How long will it take me to complete the MSW Program via distance education?

Our distance education program is designed to be completed in 2-4 years. Advanced standing students (those with an undergraduate social work degree) should be able to complete the program in two years and non-advanced standing students in four years.

How many semester credits do I need to complete my MSW?

Advanced standing students need to complete 34 semester credits; non-advanced standing students must complete 51 credits.

How much will this all cost?

The most up-to-date information regarding tuition costs can be found by going to the Registrar's Tuition Web Page.
