Master of Social Work Curriculum

The MSW program requires students to complete 51 semester credits of foundation and concentration course work. Advanced standing students complete 34 semester credits of concentration course work; including a course on social work practice with diverse populations.

Social Welfare Policy
Introduction to Research
Individual, Family, & Group Practice I
Organization & Community Practice I
Field I (internship for 420 hours; includes seminar)

Advanced Generalist Concentration
American Indians and Social Policy
Advanced Research
Individual, Family and Group Practice II
Organization & Community Practice II
Advanced American Indian Content Course (Dynamics of American Indian Families, Health in the American Indian Community)
Advanced Practice Course (i.e., child welfare, mental health, administration and community development)
Field II (internship for 480 hours; includes seminar)

Electives: graduate courses offered in the field of social work or a related field


Portfolio:
MSW students create a portfolio of learning products from their concentration year under the guidance of a faculty advisor.
