| Agency Description: |
This agency provides information and research about American Indians and
their unique cultural, political and legal status. It serves regional American
Indian communities, social service and government agencies, including educational
institutions, that work with American Indian clientele. They offer education
and training about American Indian issues. Substance for this training is
based on findings from their method of research called "reality-based
research." This means that information used will come from an Indian
perspective. |
| Description of Field Activities |
Students will have the opportunity to observe and participate in a community-based
non-profit organization. They will be expected to actively participate in
staff meetings and planning sessions. A major portion of student's activities
will be performing research using the internet to provide information that
keeps AMerican Indian organizations viable. They will be required to visit
and observe other organizations at the state and local level of government. |
