Douglas County DHHS would prefer to accept only Field II students. Students will have the opportunity to: explore child welfare policy and procedure; interview service recipients; develop interpersonal relations with co-workers, community members, and service recipients; be involved with case assessment, planning, and evaluation; advocacy; handling crises; and teaching. Students may participate in agency planning, program organization/evaluation/analysis, and agency trainings. Potential students will have access to the budgeting process and may be involved with report writing. Douglas County interns may be exposed to community planning and organizing. They may be involved with multidisciplinary task groups and engage in policy research and development. Interns may participate in community education tasks. Students may provide intake coverage and offer information and referrals services to potential recipients. Students will form relationships with community members, such as social workers, medical professionals, educators, and law enforcement. Overall, students are expected to abide by the NASW Code of Ethics and all other Douglas County policies.
