Heltzer Provides Keynote to Conference on Women Offenders

Kathy Heltzer, MSSW,LICSW was the keynote speaker for the statewide Conference on Women Offenders, "Building the Fire Within: Fostering Strength, Relationships, and Empowerment" at the University of Minnesota Continuing Education and Conference Center in St. Paul, Minnesota on April 8, 2011. Ms. Heltzer presented an overview of the strengths perspective and it's application to working with women in the criminal justice system. Ms Heltzer is on the faculty in the Department of Social Work at the University of Minnesota Duluth.The conference was attended by social workers, correctional officers, probation officers and others working with women and girls throughout the State of Minnesota. Other speakers included Deidre Quinlan, MSW,LICSW and Marilyn Van Dietan, Ph.D. The conference was sponsored by the MinnesotaAdvisory Task Force on Female Offenders
