Social Work Department Staff Receives Continuous Service Award

Karen Nichols from the Department of Social Work recently received the UMD Outstanding Continuous Service Award and was honored at an awards ceremony on February 22nd. This award is designed to recognize employees who have consistently performed their ongoing responsibilities in a superior to outstanding manner and have significantly enhanced departmental, collegiate, or campus goals and objectives.
Karen is the Associate Director for the Center for Regional & Tribal Child Welfare Studies and has been with the Department of Social Work since 2000. Karen administers the Federal Title IV-E grant and the child welfare training program for the Center.She was nominated for the award by her supervisor, Dr. Priscilla Day. As Dr. Day stated "Karen demonstrates all the characteristics of an employee who should be recognized for continuous service by her work above and beyond her job, her initiative, innovation, excellent performance, and dedication to the Center and Department of Social Work".
