Interested in becoming involved?

Participation in UMD Theatre productions is open to all UMD Students

There are five areas of production in which students can involve themselves:

  • Costumes and Makeup
  • Scenery and Props
  • Lighting and Sound
  • Box Office/Front of House Operations
  • Running Crews

With the exception of running crews, students can work on a weekly basis in the other areas helping to ready the next production.

No experience is necessary, there are trained supervisors in each of the areas to work with you.

Running crews are put together from each area, but involve working as part of the crew that is in performance every evening of the production.

There is always exciting and creative work throughout each of the areas and we invite you to be involved in the collaborative art form.

Students can work as volunteers, or have the option of taking academic credit that counts in liberal education category 10.
Please feel free to contact the Department of Theatre at 726-8562 for further information, or you may contact a specific area supervisor:

  • Mark Engler     726-8774
    Technical Director/Scene Shop Supervisor
  • Mark Harvey     726-8776
    Light and Sound Supervisor/Running Crew
