Features from the Collection
Imagine the Museum as a house with rooms full of surprises, where every
once in a while a really amazing object catches your imagination.
Making such a find urges you to put it up for others to see, to wonder about with you.
That is exactly how we see our collection of wonderful works of art.
The Museum allows for the experience of discovering anew, something
old, and in making a connection in your mind to a question long
forgotten, now realized.

The Tweed Museum is very much like a house of discoveries. It is really
a wonder to work with so many beautiful pictures, sensuous sculptures
and amazing objects. Because we get excited, we wish to share with you
the joys and curiosities of artworks.
Each month we invite you share our enjoyment with artworks that we find
especially marvelous. Together we will learn about ourselves through
our curiosity. Because the more we discover about artwork, the more we
learn about ourselves.
Every Tuesday from 12:00–3:00pm the public is invited to observe
Tweed Museum staff and UMD student interns as they conduct an
extensive inventory and assessment of the museum's collection,
including notes on the condition and the history of each object.
Discovery at Tweed will resume September 22 and run through December 1.
