Similar to painting #63. Shows the view from just south of the Cliff House in San Francisco looking southwest across Ocean Beach. The stretcher carries the notation in pencil: "The Cliff House ... California; Gilbert Munger; 1868". But Munger's first known trip to California was in the fall of 1869. Sold for $9000 + 15% at Barridoff Galleries, Portland ME, auction of 5 Aug 1998, lot 113. Advertised in The Magazine Antiques, April 1999. Sold by Montgomery Gallery, San Francisco, in 1999.
