#294. Woodland Streams.

? x ?, ink on paper. "Gilbert Munger" lower left. Munger exhibited a large painting named Woodland Streams at the Royal Academy, gallery 5, #478, in 1882. This ink drawing is probably a sketch of that painting. It shows Munger's signature within the image of the painting. Below the ink drawing of the painting we find in pencil:
Left front bottom margin: "Size of Picture -- 5 ft 9 x 3 ft 9"; and "Sight -- 5 ft 8 1/2 x 3 ft 8 1/2."

Center front bottom margin: "Woodland Streams"; and "Royal Academy."

Right bottom margin: "Gilbert Munger, 1882"
This suggests that Munger himself made the sketch, as signatures shows both on the painting's signature and on the sketch. A printed label on back shows: "From F Syms; Printseller; Practical Gilder and Picture Frame Manufacturer; 25 New Street Salisbury." Image from owner's email.
