Educational Tours

Tours introduce students to the Tweed Museum of Art as a unique campus/community resource, and allow utilization of exhibitions in conjunction with teaching in your subject area. Tours are designed
to encourage student participation and interaction.

Tour programs are at the core of our educational services

+ Tours are conducted by Gallery Teachers, made up of trained University of Minnesota Duluth students and community volunteers, as well as museum staff.

Several upcoming and ongoing exhibitions from Tweed's permanent collection in our galleries of European and American, Historical, Modern and Contemporary Art suggest ties to political and social history, geography, language and culture.

Works in these galleries are based on the following four themes:

+ Stories in Art
+ The Language of Art
+ Art and Environment
+ People and Places in Art

The individual artworks change periodically, but the themes remain, making lessons around the themes easier to plan.

These and many more temporary exhibitions are coming up.
Look to the Artist Lecture Series for 15-20 free presentations each year by artists in conjunction with all major exhibitions.

If you want to provide stimulating and innovative educational experiences for your students, make sure to plan a visit to the Tweed Museum of Art. Our staff members are ready and willing to work with you!
