Drawing from the figure with a focus on the sculptural dimensions of the human head, Sylvia Schuster asks us to consider drawing not only as a way of seeing but also as a way of thinking about the condition of being human and of existence itself. Big Al Carter’s paintings are larger than life in size and power and scope – an equal to the artist’s personality and to his reputation as a painter’s painter and to his career as a distinguished teacher and mentor to young artists.
