Exit Interviews

If you are not sure of what loan types you have and would like a historical aid summary of all of your federal loans and grants, please visit NSLDS.

1. If you have Direct (Stafford) subsidized or unsubsidized loans only and are graduating, dropping below half-time or withdrawing from school for any reason you may do your exit counseling on line by clicking here. If desired, you may also schedule a personal exit interview on your Direct loans by contacting our office. Failure to do an exit interview will result in a hold being placed on your academic records.
2. If you have Perkins, University Trust Fund, Primary Care, and/or Ordean loans please continue reading below:

Before you complete your course of study, drop below half-time (full-time for Primary Care Loans), or withdraw from school for any reason, you must schedule an exit interview with the Financial Collections Office to discuss the repayment of your loan(s) and provide an address where you can be contacted in the future. Planning during the repayment period will be simplified if you have discussed your obligations and available benefits prior to leaving school.

THEREFORE, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO SEE THAT YOU HAVE AN EXIT INTERVIEW AND THAT YOU UNDERSTAND THE TERMS OF YOUR LOANS. FAILURE TO COMPLETE EXIT COUNSELING WILL RESULT IN A HOLD BEING PLACED ON YOUR RECORDS.

You may schedule your exit interview beginning April 1, 2008. To schedule your exit interview, please call 218-726-8103 or email fincoll@d.umn.edu. When emailing your selection, PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR UMD ID#.

We prefer that you attend one of the group exit interview sessions listed below. Space is limited in these sessions, so set your appointment as soon as possible. We are also able to accommodate one-on-one exit interviews if requested. If you see a line through the session, that particular session is full.

We will begin accepting appointments on Tuesday, April 1 2008.
