UM Pay - First Time Users
For first time student users | For first time parents/authorized payer users

If you are a first time student user, please follow the 6 easy steps below:

  1. Once you log into the UM Pay web application with your U of M Internet ID and password, click on User Preferences on the left menu to indicate any alternative e-mail addresses we should use for bill notification e-mails, as well as if you'd like to be notified of payments made by your authorized payer(s).
  2. Click on Payment Profiles on the left menu to set up and store your bank or credit card account information so that payments can be easily debited from your checking account, savings account or charged to your credit card.
  3. Click on Authorized Payers on the left menu to set up individuals (like parents or a spouse) to view and pay the bill on your behalf. Click here for specific directions on downloading/forwarding UM Pay e-bills, as well as setting up authorized payers. Note: You will need to communicate the Authorized Payer Login Name and Password you create to your Authorized Payer in order for them to access UM Pay.
  4. Once you receive the e-mail notification that your billing statement is ready to be viewed and paid, click on View Accounts on the left menu to view the current billing statement, as well as prior bill history. You can also download and print an official copy of the bill if you want to mail a check payment or mail a copy of the bill to your parents.
  5. Click on Make Payment on the left menu to make an online payment using your stored Payment Profile you created or you can select "e-check" or "credit card" to make an online payment if you choose not to store bank account information on the UM Pay system.
  6. Click on Payment History on the left menu to view all electronic payments made using the UM Pay system.


If you are a first time authorized payer user (such as a parent or spouse), please follow the 5 easy steps below:

  1. Click on Change Password to reset the temporary password your student has assigned to you to ensure privacy of data and information. Once you set up your permanent password, your student will not have access to this information.
  2. Click on User Preferences on the left menu to indicate an e-mail address we should use for bill notification e-mails (this is in addition to the billing notification e-mail that is sent to the student), as well as if you'd like to be notified via e-mail of payments you have made.
  3. Once you receive the e-mail notification that your student's bill is ready to be viewed and paid, click on View Accounts on the left menu to view the most recent billing statement, as well as prior bill history. You can also download and print an official copy of the bill if you want to mail a check payment.
  4. Click on Make Payment on the left menu to make an online payment using your checking or savings account.
  5. Click on Payment History on the left menu to view any electronic payments you made using the UM Pay system.
