Key Return Policy


Effective immediately, all office and building keys must be turned in by every academic, civil service, and student employee prior to their last day on payroll. This includes terminations, departmental transfers, retirement, long-term disability, or death of an employee. It does not include those on continuing appointments who are on short work breaks, or 9-10 month employees.

All keys must be taped to the original Key Request card. This card should then be attached to the appropriate Termination form. The following forms can be found on our web site:

The appropriate completed form should be returned to Audrey Temple, Human Resources, 255 DAdB. HR will then forward the keys to Facilities Management. The completed forms will be placed on file in HR.

AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH MONTH, Audrey Temple WILL RUN A REPORT LISTING ALL EMPLOYEE AND STUDENT TERMINATIONS, TRANSFERS, RETIREMENTS, DEATHS, AND DISABILITY LEAVES.

Audrey will verify the Termination forms received against this list, and submit a copy to Sue Parrott, Facilities Management Key Division, for their records. In this way, all necessary key returns can be verified.
