HIRING A CIVIL SERVICE EMPLOYEE

Hiring is one of the most important responsibilities that any manager or supervisor has. Not only can the investment in hiring and training of a new employee amount to thousands of dollars, but the very future of the University depends on the abilities and attitudes of the new employees who are selected. Because hiring is a relatively infrequent task for most people, it is difficult to keep current with all of the rules, regulations, and techniques of recruiting, interviewing, and selecting. All of the governmental requirements make it even more complex.

The primary objective of this manual is to help you comply with governmental regulations and to meet University requirements. The manual will also help you to organize your hiring procedures to assure hiring the best candidate possible.
