CHECKLIST TO COMPLETE THE HIRING PROCESS FOR TEMPORARY NO POST
IMPORTANT: Only upon approval by UMD HR that the
hiring department may extend a job offer to the final candidate(s).
A number of steps and forms must be completed before hiring an individual
for Temporary No Post. Use this checklist to verify that all of these
requirements have been met. Check the boxes as you complete each step.
The UMD HR Temporary No Post Job Requisition will be reviewed and approved
by Mary Cameron or UMD HR Director or her designee. An email will be
sent to you whether your Temporary No Post Job Requisition has been
approved or not.
Step 2:
COMPLETE the online U of M
Job Requisition. Be sure to specify that it is Temporary No Post
by clicking "Recruitment Strategies."
ROUTE through the regular process within your unit and then to UMD
HR/HR Pro.
UMD HR/HR Pro will review and approve the online Job Requisition and
then send to HR COMP in the twin cities.
When the Job Requisition comes back to UMD HR Employment Team from
the twin cities, it is entered as DIRECT HIRE so it does not post on
the web.
Step 3:
The UMD HR Employment Team will send an email to the hiring department
specifying a QUICK LINK to the online Job Requisition.
Have the candidate COPY and PASTE the QUICK LINK to their
browser. It will take the candidate to the Job Requisition where the
application can be submitted.
The UMD HR Employment Team will screen the online application form
and advise the department by email or phone that the candidate meets
the essential qualifications.
FORWARD the signed Application Requirement Form and Hiring Certification
for Final Candidate Form to Employment Specialist, UMD HR, 255 Darland
Administration Building.
The hiring department is responsible for the verification of the candidate's
employment history, degree, license, and certification. UMD HR will
verify the degree for the hiring department upon request. If the degree
verification requires any fees, the amount will be charged to the hiring
department; i.e, National Clearing House charges $6.50 per verification.
Employment history specified in the application up to the last seven
years of employment must be verified. Degree, license, or certification
of the candidate even those that were not a requirement for the position
must be verified if the applicant specified it on the application.
Only upon approval by UMD HR that the hiring department may extend
a job offer to the applicant.
Step 5:
Prepare all appropriate appointment documents and send to UMD HR:
Fill out an online form to request that a New Employee Orientation
be conducted for the new hire and benefits packets be mailed to the
new employee depending on their appointments as follows:
