SNOW DAY PAY
Snow Day Pay, see #9-12
For most employees (full-time, non-critical) the following rules apply:
Civil Service and Represented (non-faculty) Bargaining Unit Employees
1. Employees whose work schedule begins during an official closing will
not be required to report to work and will be paid for their scheduled
hours.
2. All hours worked during an emergency closing and all hours not worked,
but paid, will count toward the 40-hour work week when determining overtime
pay.
3. Employees on approved vacation, sick leave, or leave of absence without
pay when an official closing is declared will be charged for vacation,
sick leave, or leave without pay as previously arranged.
4. Employees required to work during an emergency closing that falls
within the normal work week will be awarded equivalent time off at regular
pay at a time approved by the supervisor for hours worked during the official
closing.
All hours worked beyond 40 in the work week will be subject to the overtime
provisions in the civil service rule book or the appropriate collective
bargaining agreement.
5. Temporary Office Service (TOS) employees will be paid for hours worked
only.
Those employees who are deemed critical (except for the police and heating
plant employees) who did not report to work will *not* be paid for the
day but may use vacation time or unused compensatory time.
Student employees on College Work Study may only be paid for actual hours
worked. Other student employees are treated the same as the civil service
employees.
