From the inception of "Take Our Daughters to Work Day" in
1999 up to 2002, UMD Department of Human Resources coordinated this
event.
Effective 2003, "Women's Resource and Action Center (WRAC) is now the coordinator of the event which has been changed to "Take Our Children to Work" Day to include also boys.
"Take Our Daughters to Work" Day. "Take Our Daughters to Work" Day is a national education campaign, launched in 1993 by Ms. Foundation for Women, http://www.takeourdaughterstowork.org/, designed to heighten girls' (ages 9-15) aspirations and help them make the connection between academic success and success in the real world.
Seeing what women in particular do in the workplace shows girls what their lives may be like in the future. The Ms. Foundation theme this year is "Girl Force"—to show the world that the Girl Force of today is going to help change the Work Force of tomorrow.
