On Thursday, April 22, 1999, UMD again participated in the 7th Annual "Take
Our Daughters to Work" Day. "Take Our Daughters to Work" Day
is a national education campaign, launched in 1993 by Ms. Foundation for Women
designed to give girls, ages 9-15, an opportunity to view their current education
as a direct link to future employment. It also created an opportunity for girls
to interact with a caring adult and share dreams and ideas about their role
in the world. "Take Our Daughters to Work" Day is an annual free event
open to all UMD employees. YWCA of Duluth was the local sponsor. The Duluth
school district supported the day by granting excused absences to girls ages
