Admissions Campus tour guides will give you a tour of the UMD campus and residence halls.
 
Air Force ROTC What is it like to be in the service? Do you know that there are different branches in the military? Air Force is one of them and we will find out what it's like to be in the Air Force.
 
Biology Which Organ Would You Be Willing to Give Up to Look Like a Barbie Doll? Girls who sign up for this active session will learn how scientists answer questions about biology. They will perform an experiment that will help them realistically assess the health costs of actually being shaped like a Barbie Doll.
 
Electrical and Computer Engineering "Experimenting with electronics and computers." In this presentation, you will learn some of the things that electrical and computer engineers do. We will have some experiments that will help you learn about these exciting fields in engineering.
   
Health, Physical Education, and Recreation
(Athletic Training)
Prevention of sport related injures is important, but sometimes unavoidable. Come to this interactive session and learn what to do once an injury has occured. You will learn about splinting and bandaging to prevent re-injury.

Good nutrition can be the "edge" that many athletes use to improve their performance. Come to this session and learn what type of foods and beverages can help you - and taste some, too!
   
Health Services Health Services will have stations where you can learn about some of the different health professions.
   
Information Technology Systems and Services What can you do with a background in computing? We will focus on creating your own web page and make it "live" on the Internet. You will learn to surf the World Wide Web.
   
Library Information seekers! Learn what it is like to be a librarian in the information age. Daughters will learn about the library via a scavenger hunt.
   
Mathematics and Statistics (Math Club) Want to have fun with Math? Do you like geometric figures? Find out what an equilateral triangle and a pentagon are. Try your hand at using computers to generate 3-D shapes and take home your own geometric prize.
   

Outdoor Program

 

Do you know there are full-time careers available in teaching people about the outdoors? Outdoor/Environmental Education and Recreation are some of the fastest growing fields today. They invite educators to teach skills such as rock climbing, sea kayaking and backpacking while introducing students to the splendor of the natural world. Come to this workshop to learn more about this field and how you can have a career in the great outdoors!
   
Statesman Learn the step-by-step process as to how a newspaper is put together as well as produce one.
   
Women's Resource and Action Center In this workshop, you will be preparing a booklet by writing, drawing, and designing an image of yourself. This booklet will help develop your self-image and qualities that are the essence of who you are. It will also give you ideas on how you can present yourself for an interview in the future.
