How Can UReturn-Employee Services Assist Supervisors When Returning Employees to Work After a Medical Condition?

This is an orientation session about how UReturn - Employee Services can assist supervisors and managers in returning their employees to work after a medical condition or disability. Ways in working with departments and/or employees experiencing difficulty adjusting to medical conditions will also be discussed. Time for Q&A will be provided.

Facilitator: Mary Harris, M.S., CRC., is a Disability Specialist who provides services to University employees with medical conditions, and assistance to supervisors and departments who employ them.

Effective Performance Appraisals

We will discuss the performance cycle, what it is and how it works. It will also cover the importance of preparation including the review of job descriptions, soliciting feedback from others, involving the employee, the benefits of defining job expectations and setting clear goals. It will also talk about the resources and forms available on the "umdhr" website.

Managing the Tough Stuff: How to Help a Troubled Employee

In this session, supervisors will learn two 5-step formulas to assist troubled employees. Role play may be part of the presentation. This session will also help supervisors direct employees to the University Employee Assistance Program.

Facilitator: Bob Lyman is a 30-year employee with St. Luke's EAP. He has a masters degree and specializes in Employee Assistance for the past 25 years.
