Registration is not required unless specified.

As part of UMD Human Resources & Equal Opportunity Employee Wellness initiative, we request those attending HR&EO workshops and training to refrain from wearing scented products such as perfume, cologne, hand lotion, aftershave and body spray. Some attendees may be scent sensitive and exposure to scented products may trigger allergic reactions and create health problems for those individuals. Understanding Your MSRS Pension

Registration is required for this session. Email lwallace@d.umn.edu or call 726-7822.

Lisa will provide an explanation of how pension benefits are calculated and how to apply for your MSRS (Minnesota State Retirement System) pension for non-academic employees. Survivor options, disability benefits and surviving spouse benefits will also be discussed. Lisa Holte works at Minnesota State Retirement System.

National Safety Council CPR/AED Course

This NSC CPR/AED course is designed as a Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification training. CPR and First Aid on a choking victim will be taught through demonstration and practice of mannequin and use of AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) will be demonstrated. Andrew Kimball is the Environmental Health and Safety Specialist with UMD Environmental Health and Safety Office and a certified instructor in CPR, AED, First Aid, HazMat, Defensive Driving, and Fire Safety

Mindfulness in Motion Info Session


The cost is $200, which is fully reimbursable for UPlan members upon completion of seven of the eight sessions and the pre- and post-evaluation. Participants are also eligible for Wellness My Way points

University of Minnesota Center for Spiritually and Healling in collaboration with the University's Wellness Program and UMD HR&EO is offering Mindfulness in Motion (MiM) to University employees. This class is a research-based program that offers pragmatic resiliency tools easily implemented in the workplace to reduce daily stress and increase productivity and work engagement. Participants will learn mindful awareness principles that are the key to embodying the benefits of mindfulness. The eight weekly sessions emphasize bodily relaxation with soft background music as well as discussion of mindful awareness of cognitive habits.

Rachel Gilbertson is UMD's UPlan Health Coach.

Meg Little is an Assistant Professor in the College of Pharmacy and a Registered Nurse.

Elizabeth Zuber is Essentia Health's Instructor for the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program, this also includes teaching mindfulness practices in the Pain Management Program.

Weight Loss Success Couch potato to personal trainer, Sarina Pizzala will share her inspiring story on how she overcame obesity by losing 70 pounds and learned to live life to the fullest along the way. Once not being able to do the mile run in high school, she now runs half-marathons and has found a passion for health and fitness. She shares this passion with others as a personal trainer at Anytime Fitness. Her dream is to educate and motive others to lead a healthier lifestyle. Sarina Pizzala is a senior studying Public Health Education and Promotion at UMD and interning with the Health Coaching program.

The Group Health Coaching Program focuses on unique goals in a supportive small group environment. Mental Health First Aid Certification Training Info Session

Mental Health First Aid Certification Training is a ground breaking public education program that helps the public identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness. An estimated one in four Americans has a diagnosable mental illness. Mental Health First Aiders are often the first line of support. Your body language, what you say, and how you say it can have a powerful impact. You can make a difference! Lee Berlinquette worked in the Youth Services field at Lutheran Social Services for 15 years and managed Bethany Crisis Shelter working with truancy and first time juvenile offenders. Lee has been teaching Mental Health First Aid through UMD Continuing Education.
