Safety Awareness Training - Summer 2007


How to Manage Pain Related to Structure

This workshop will cover a brief education on the structure of your body and its relation to function and how pain is related to dis-function in your body. Basic stretches and exercises to manage/prevent this type of pain will be demonstrated. Specific areas to be covered are low back, neck (headaches), and shoulders.

Facilitator: Dr. Andrew Lundgren is a doctor of chiropractic with Lundgren Chiropractic born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota. He enjoys educating the community about how to live a long and healthy life.

Explore the Challenges in the Northern Woods and Waters: How to be Safe When Enjoying the Outdoors

We all love the northwoods! Now you can explore strategies for staying safe and comfortable while venturing out to explore that secret trout lake or the new section of the Superior Hiking Trail. In addition, we will learn about specific hazards that can be encountered while you are outdoors. Come with your questions. This will be an interactive activity, so bring something to write with.

Facilitator: Tim Bates has been with the Outdoor Program for over 17 years and has extensive experience exploring, with groups, wild areas throughout North America.
